TTO are "Commended" at Inverness Music Festival!!
The Truly Terribles had a fab night at the 2012 Inverness Music Festival at Eden Court Theatre on Tuesday (13th March). The adjudicator was very generous and awarded us a "Commended" for our splendid effort at a tribute to Henry Mancini... This raised the usual big cheer from the assembled Terribles, who were in rowdy spirits as ever! Well done all!
The Truly Terrible Orchestra is a group of 'lapsed' amateur musicians based around the Inverness/ Moray Firth area, who enjoyed playing music earlier in life (usually at school) and have decided to dust off their instruments and get playing again. As the name suggests, our attitude to music-making is very relaxed and always about having a laugh! The Orchestra was founded in 2006 by Anni Cole-Hamilton and our musical director Jon Hall (pictured below) conducts the group with great skill, humour and endless patience...
Sadly for the general public, the TTO performs several times a year! We hold an annual Charity Christmas concert every December and in August 2011 we were thrilled to be invited to play at the internationally-acclaimed Tartan Heart Festival at Belladrum, near Beauly! Our other accollades include being awarded the Laoureux Challenge Trophy at the Inverness Music Festival in 2010 - a truly terrible triumph!
The TTO rehearses on Tuesday evenings in Fairways Golf Club, Inverness (click here for details) and members are from Inverness, Moray, Nairn, Ross-shire and surrounding areas. We play a wide variety of music from Beethoven
to “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” (which sometimes describes our playing...)
If you fancy joining us, it's easy to contact us. We already have lots of trombones, cellos, flutes, oboes and clarinets (so players of these instruments may be asked to go on a waiting list.) We are always however looking for strings, horns, trumpets and bassoons!
